My Father tells me he enjoys meeting with you very much. He considers himself "being interviewed" and is somewhat confused as to what exactly this is all for. I have explained to him that this is brain exercise for his memory and he seems quite satisfied with that explanation. He knows you are recording information and keeps on asking if you are writing a book. When I tell him it is a book about his life, he is quite tickled and laughs with delight. My impression is that although his understanding is limited as to the real intent of AMM, he is very pleased at receiving this kind of attention.

Mrs. H has just blossomed since we started. She is able to focus more, wants to participate, and has a great time. Mrs. H related to me that I am fun to be around, and likes how we all laugh so much. Yesterday, when we all were learning about the origins of cats, Mrs. H's concentration level was amazing. Many times, she was able to give the answer first. Keep in mind, I was reading the information; she did not look at the clue, but got the answer. As we do these modules I ask questions, which leads to reminiscing, and their insight.

Mr. K. has really opened up. He laughs a lot, and enjoys discussing articles we read in the paper. Mrs. K loves to dance, and when she asks Mr. K, now he agrees. Mrs. K says has he hasn't done that in a long time.

Our care company, Signature Care has been using the AMM program for several years now. It has been a blessing for so many of our dementia and brain injury clients. Our caregivers notice the way the program seems to help and the families we work with tell us that they see a big difference in their loved ones!

I wanted to give you some very positive news about my father. He scored 23 again on his test, without the Doctor (cognitive specialist) knowing anything about the work he is doing with you. When the Doctor came in to see me, I told him about your work and he is extremely interested in knowing more about it and meeting you.

We've noticed a big difference, and so has our caregiver. Mrs. P shows more interest in her daily routine, and in conversation. With the election coming up, we've been talking politics again.

My Dad laughs more often, and he really enjoys our conversations. He still has issues, but he's much less anxious... and much more my Dad.

When I first met Mrs. B, she did not want to share her Life History, wasn't sure she could do the word finds, and worried about getting the right answer. Mrs. B's worries about her memory loss have caused her so much anxiety. I have given her information about mild cognitive impairment, normal memory loss and dementia. As well, I have discussed the differences with her. Mrs. B has mastered the word finds, and does really well with the modules. I feel very privileged that she now has started sharing her Life Story with me.

We now have 8 clients working on the program. I was contacted by a woman who had worked as the support facilitator for the Alzheimer's Resource Centre for 8.5 years, she wanted to work for our company and has come on board as our "Brain Trainer". She can't get over our approach and dedication to Dementia care and is our own advertising vehicle! We are reaching a whole new market as we also promote it to people who want to maintain a healthy brain. I have had Dr's look at it, Alzheimer Drug Reps look at it and all KNOW this is a fabulous program. Our first client could not or did not have the confidence to perform a mini-mental exam a month ago, let alone know the date, where she was, etc. 6 weeks ago, yesterday she knew the date, location and was able to perform the mini-mental with confidence! These brains are not dead, but often not utilized and this program does that, it trains the brain, we listen and give these people a time to contribute and learn!

Mrs. M's confidence has soared since starting AMM. After enjoying our session the other day, she said "I'm not as dumb as I thought I was. I love doing these exercises."

I have seen Mom celebrate and talk about things that were important in her life, aside from family. But the best gift of all is when Mom said "I don't feel lost anymore"

The Caregiver and I were talking today, and she said she is starting to notice a real difference in Mrs. H. When they were shopping at Safeway, Mrs. H reminded her to get root beer. As well, we all were talking about voting next Monday. Mrs. H told the Caregiver to remind her to vote on Monday. Then we were talking about how jaded in general we are with politicians. I mentioned how much I had admired the Independent candidate. Mrs. H remarked that she remembered him because his office was in Surrey, and wasn't it too bad he died.

M's confidence and ability are increasing regarding the comprehensive and word finds. She was able to do the comprehensive with only a couple of hints from me. On two or three instances, I covered the possible answers, and M was able to answer without looking. The word find was challenging for M (especially the backward answers) however, with only a few hints, she successfully completed the exercise. On completion, I asked M how she felt, words poured out, 'I am not as dumb as I thought I was, I didn't know I was so smart, my mother always told me I was stupid, I guess I am not, I love doing these exercises!'

When I first met Mr. H he commented to me over and over about how he could not remember very much, made too many mistakes, but would try the modules. We have bonded over our common interest in World War Two, my husband previously having a motorcycle, and animals. Mr. H's confidence has soared, he is able to do the word finds without as much help, gives terrific insight and input into the modules, astounds me with his reasoning, is much less anxious about his memory loss. He laughs more often, now gives Mrs. H compliments, really enjoys discussing and giving input about articles we read in the paper. Mrs. H loves to dance, and when she asks Mr. H, he always agrees, now. Mr. H does not remember my name, but always lights up when I come. When I leave, he always insists on carrying my case, helping me into the car, and hugging me goodbye.

I want to extend our gratitude for the time and energy you spent preparing for and being our guests on the conference call today. I know many members will get on board with the AMM program for their benefit, certainly, but more importantly for the benefit of those millions of people suffering the effects of brain damage. Lighting the way for others with the torch your mother lit so many years ago is a very beautiful vocation.

Me again. I wanted to share with you what happened today. I've found that Sunday afternoons are particularly tough on my mother. We had gone for a walk and all was well, but when she sat down, she went into a dark place. "I should go home" and stuff like that. Being that she was going to a place that wasn't good, I got out the Rug Braiding module. She was slow on the reading out loud at first and quick to say, "I don't know" but then, about the third one, she picked up. We got to page 18 and I knew she was tired. I turned to the word finders and she got so absorbed that she even did another one without me saying anything. I was thanking you the whole time. What a Godsend this is. By the second word finder, I looked over and she was smiling because she had enjoyed it so much.
Sometimes, she can be very focused doing the exercises and when we stop, her brain gets befuddled again. I am grateful for the pockets of positive things though and the diverting away from repetitive thoughts of worry and confusion. Happy for the moments.
